Top Drawer A/W17
Top Drawer we are back!
New for A/W17 we have taken inspiration from Japan.
With every one of our products we start conversations- striking design, human stories.
Colours are bold but sophisticated, lines clean and uncluttered. Consideration and elegance feature in almost every corner.
The JAPAN collection features 6 striking designs that are captivating with colour. Designed to give any space a vibrant new look and release you to another world.
“Our process is playful, we are experimental, collaborative and we want to surprise people. We create beautiful things that mean something”
Our new collection includes a range of cushions, tea towels, cards and jewellery and from September the 10th-12th we can be found at Top Drawer, stand H-A19 in the HOME area.
“We felt like we had joined a community, we belonged, and we can’t wait to be back”
JOLT is the retail brand of Designs in Mind, a studio of designer makers referred through mental health services. Working together we make it possible to live life through the creation of high quality, ambitious and experimental art and design work. JOLT challenges the predominant culture of low expectation which surrounds the makers and challenges everyone to take another look.
LOOK BEYOND THE LABEL
“Not only is there aesthetic beauty and quality to savour in the JAPAN collection, when you take time to look a little deeper, the relevance of Japanese symbolism is reflected in our own mental health journeys; the journey of life represented by the fan, or the Crane who demonstrates peace and longevity”
Jo Watkins, Team JOLT
Working with your hands creates purpose...
“By taking bits and pieces, and using them to make something incredibly beautiful... it is transformation through action.”
Mike, Designs in Mind
Back in January 2017 experimental workshops in lino printing, mark making and chine-colle involved over 50 makers. After a process of refinement and selection the final 6 designs came to life.
G's Crane features on one of the designs...
'I struggle with suicide daily. I’m diabetic – I inject myself. I find it hard to cope with that. Coming to Designs in Mind has made a tremendous difference to my well-being. A long time ago I was creative, this has re-awakened an interest. I wouldn’t go out at all. I was very hesitant coming to visit the studio. Now I’m here, I really look forward to coming. Before I had nothing to look forward to. It’s given me the opportunity to meet people. It’s a great bunch of people. I can talk to people in similar situations – a safe place – I know I won’t be judged.'
100% of all sales revenue goes towards sustaining and developing the work of Designs in Mind.
