Buy Social Community

For a long time we have been working away in our studio in Oswestry without really looking up and out, and now we find we are part of this growing community that inspires people to look beyond the label. Social Enterprises that recognise the impact of: working with purpose; being artistically challenged; and when self-worth is increased it can make other things in life seem possible.

We have recently been asked to sell our products and story with This Because...

We champion products that look good and do good

We showcase them in one place – telling their stories, selling their products, building their brands and launching new ones – so that it is easy and fun for us to all consume more thoughtfully.

Although the idea ‘buy social’ is not new, it is definitely getting more attention, as people like Zoe at This Because bring organisations like ours together. Together we have a louder voice and hopefully a greater effect on how people shop.

Why Buy Social?

Buying social is about using your money to create a positive impact on the world we live in. When you buy from a social enterprise you are choosing to spend your money with a business that is giving something back, reinvesting their profits to address the most pressing issues, from homelessness and unemployment to ethical trade and climate change.

Top Tips For Buying Social

  • Give yourself some extra time, for example start shopping now for Christmas! Many small social enterprises are making hand crafted products or working with small stock levels to help manage cash flow. Embrace the ‘go slow’ movement and indulge in a world away from the instant.

  • Love the product and get to know the story behind the product. The impact of you buying that gift is massive and you have contributed to changing lives, it may sound cheesy but it is true.

  • Look out for the ‘Buy Social’ stamp or if the company is a registered Social Enterprise so that you are buying with confidence.

  • Give us feedback. This can be shared with the makers, designers and crafters which is so important and fulfils that loop of working with purpose. If you shout out about the fact that you ‘Buy Social’ you will inspire others to do so.

We have recently launched our online shop and we can’t wait to join the This Because community, and be amongst…
